Friends and Neighbors:

Many people in the community have asked us if we had information about Derek Colling’s employment status. We didn’t, so we asked Sheriff Dave O’Malley.

O’Malley told us that Colling returned to work three weeks ago!

Maybe that’s why Colling felt confident enough to attend last week’s Laramie city council meeting and testify against a proposal to increase regulations on landlords.

Colling is a landlord. He claimed that the rental proposal before the council had already impacted the market and would continue to do so “unless you kill this thing… We want this thing dead.”

This is striking language from someone who kills and assaults people who don’t obey his orders.

Colling also complained to the Council about being a victim of slander: “I know what it’s like to be slandered by this community unfairly and unjustly, and we’re not gonna stand for it.”

Well, maybe if you didn’t kill so many people …

If the idea of Detective Colling cruising around the county with a service firearm doesn’t sit well with you, the responsible thing to do is to let Sheriff O’Malley know.

O’Malley appears to believe that only a few, fringe people in Albany County are concerned that Derek Colling continues to have a job with the Sheriff’s Department.

We need to let him know that, in fact, there are MANY PEOPLE in Albany County who are concerned about Colling “serving and protecting” them.

Please take a few minutes and contact Sheriff O’Malley today. His email address is: domalley@co.albany.wy.us

Begin by introducing yourself and making sure he knows you’re an Albany County resident.

We can’t stay quiet about this. And this is only the first step. But it’s an important one.

Feel free to contact us with any questions at info@acopp.org.
